Tanystrosuchus to rodzaj teropoda z późnego triasu (?środkowy noryk) Niemiec. Holotyp (SMNS 4385) to kręg ogonowy. Zdaniem Rauhuta i Hungerbuhlera (2000) to nomen dubium, lecz Mortimer (online, a więc nieoficjalnie) stwierdził, że może być to ważny takson, gdyż posiada unikalną jak dla triasowego taksonu kombinację cech.
